Local & Proud: The Makers Behind the Bar at Quitters

June 18, 2021 · Words by Priya Nadeau

One of the quiet joys of running a small café is choosing who you work with. We could buy everything from one big supplier and be done with it, but that was never the point of Quitters. We would rather pour something made by people we can call by name.

The people in your cup

Our coffee comes from Pilot Coffee Roasters, the tea from Genuine Tea, and when you ask what is on tap the answer often involves Kichesippi or Calabogie Brewing. These are the friends and collaborators we mean when we say local and proud. You can see the whole roster on our about page.

Why it matters on the plate too

The same thinking runs through the kitchen. A menu built on good suppliers is a menu you can stand behind, which is why the eats & drinks list changes with what is good and available rather than what ships cheapest. Supporting great producers makes better coffee, better food and a better Main Street.

Come say hello

If you want to taste the difference for yourself, we are right here in Stittsville and open every day. Drop in, order something made by a neighbour, and stay a while.

Priya covers the kitchen: the soup of the day, the squares cooling on the rack and the small local suppliers who make our menu tick. She believes a breakfast sandwich is a complete argument in itself.
